Does LED Phototherapy Really Work?

NASA discovered red LED light’s bio stimulating effect when researching biological lettuce growth in space under artificial light. It also worked!

As with many other excellent NASA technologies, this technology was then filtered through to industries such as medical aesthetics, where the biostimulation technology was put to “real world” practical use, sans the lettuce!

So, yes, LED phototherapy does work, and who are we to disagree with NASA scientific studies?

At Collagen Restore, we use a cutting-edge Deesse LED mask that not only uses red LED light for collagen and elastin development inside the skin, but also blue LED light for acne antibacterial, green LED light to inhibit pigment production, yellow LED light for detoxing the skin, and near-infrared light to encourage deeper skin tissue regeneration and healing.

Why now is an excellent time for Intended Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments.

Summer may seem like a distant memory as the nights draw in, but have you noticed that the effects of summer sun damage are still visible on your skin? IPL is an important skin rejuvenation therapy that stimulates slow cell turnover and captures pigmentation deposits in the skin. Within 2-3 weeks, the skin will be on the mend and glowing.

Even better, at Collagen Restore, we now combine IPL with a relaxing medi-facial!

We suggest 3-5 IPL treatments in conjunction with HydraFacial treatments every four weeks, and there is no better time than autumn and winter. IPL therapies cannot be done if you have had sun exposure within three weeks of the procedure, so the winter months are perfect for incorporating a little IPL light into your life.

Sleep is often ignored in our beauty routines. When we sleep, our bodies heal and recover from the pressures of the day.

Every night, we need 7-9 hours of quality sleep! According to our lead nurse Marea, if you get less than 6 hours of sleep a night, it will most likely affect your appearance.

Marea suggests that you try to get an additional 1-2 hours of sleep and you will soon find that sleeping better and longer will enhance your appearance.

In reality, during our skin consultations at Collagen Restore, you will be asked not only about your health and diet, but also about your sleep. Here are some interesting statistics and beauty advantages of having enough sleep. The Deesse Pro LED mask, a recent in-clinic addition, has several health and skin benefits. Let’s take a look at six of them.

We seem to be able to get out of bed more quickly in the summer. Why is this the case? In light, the body appears to produce more of the energising hormone cortisol, and the body’s “cortisol awakening response” is increased.

Since there is more blue light in the morning, Marea encourages her clients to get our blue LED wavelength care in the morning.

If you wake up with dark circles under your eyes, you’ve had too little sleep.

“When we don’t get enough sleep…puffy eyes are one of the first things we see when we don’t sleep,” Marea says, “but fear not, support is at hand, we have the Déesse Pro LED mask inside our clinic.” We will choose a yellow wavelength of light to help in lymphatic decongestion directly under your eyes. This mask has a clear impact after just 30 minutes of use.

When we sleep, our bodies do not have to protect itself against free radicals (harmful molecules from the environment). Our blood flow is more stable when we sleep, which helps our clinical grade products aid in repair and collagen production.

Since our skin loses more water when sleeping than during the day, applying a clinical grade treatment moisturiser before bed, along with a good drink of water, can help the skin’s function overnight. As a result, we recommend iS Youth Intensive Crème or iS Reparative Emulsion.

When you sleep, the skin produces new collagen, which helps to avoid sagging. Marea explains, “This collagen production during sleep is all part of your skin’s repair process; I keep banging this drum, but more collagen means plumper skin that is less likely to wrinkle.” Sleeping just 5 hours a night will result in twice as many fine lines as sleeping 7 hours. It also dries out the skin, making lines more visible.”

Since there are more red light rays in the late afternoon and evening daylight, Marea recommends getting the LED mask dual wave treatments with near infrared and red light at the end of the clinic day, which will not only help you develop collagen but will also help you sleep better.

We may use green LED therapy to accelerate skin healing after several laser or cautery treatments at Face;ift365. In clinical trials, green LEDs greatly accelerated wound healing, and red and green LEDs accelerated full reepithelialization (healing) as compared to control studies.

Since blood flow is more stable at night, we recommend that patients who have had a mole removed on their face or have had laser resurfacing treatment come in the afternoons the week following their laser or cautery operation.

LED Phototherapy is one of the most powerful and safest methods for maintaining healthy-looking skin. It is a non-invasive, painless skin treatment that uses non-thermal light energy to keep skin youthful while also addressing a number of skin issues.
